Prep Providers

The prep providers included on the following list have been determined by the International Research Association to offer preparatory services to assist candidates in their preparation for the LIFA exam. Due to the varied backgrounds of its candidates and members, the IRA recognizes there is no one method to prepare for the LIFA exam. Candidates are encouraged to carefully explore their options when choosing prep materials for the LIFA exam and make a determination as to which services suit their needs.

Level I:

The Level I LIFA exam is foundational in nature. Candidates should take into consideration that the scope and depth of the material contained in the Level I LIFA exam curriculum is consistent with that of the Level I CFA® exam curriculum. The curriculum allows Level I candidates to pursue the LIFA and CFA programs concurrently. Note however, that the Level II and III LIFA exams require a depth of knowledge beyond the Level II and III CFA exams.

As noted in the Level I LIFA Study Guide, the core subject areas are:

• Corporate Finance
• Asset Valuation, including Equity, Fixed-Income and Alternative Investments
• Derivative Instruments
• Economics
• Ethics
• Financial Statement Analysis
• International Markets
• Portfolio Management
• Quantitative Analysis

LIFA candidates may also choose to prepare with the Primary Readings suggested in the LIFA Study Guide as an adequate source of preparatory material for the LIFA exam. These publications can be found at a variety of locations including university bookstores, libraries, and on-line retailers.
